When I gave my life to Jesus Christ in 1972 and started this life long relationship, I received a new Father and a new family. His love, His work and His purpose in me was perfect. I was no longer a spiritual orphan but a child of God and an heir to the riches found in Christ Jesus my Lord. Growing up I became aware of my immense emotional starvation. I call it my bucket that no one or nothing could come close to filling or satisfying. After receiving Christ I found that my heavenly Father could meet all my emotional needs for complete and unconditional love. That’s what my heart and soul was longing for – a new Father and a new family. Ultimately man can’t meet our deepest longings emotionally or otherwise. Only God in the Person of Christ can. He can sympathize with our weaknesses and comfort us in our frail humanity. I desperately need my Father every day, how about you?
I’m working with desperate men and women every day. People are crying out with their empty emotional buckets looking for someone or something to fill it. They’ve searched for this relief in all the wrong places and with all the wrong people. They are at their wits end for solutions. One said, “I can’t keep doing life this way. I’m getting too old for this.” Another, “I’m still doing the same stupid things to get back here in jail.” The solution is not a self fix, treatment, religion or changing habits, but it’s instead found in a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. People need a heart change, not behavior modification. I had a guy tell me, “I’m afraid!” He faced his fear and placed his trust in Christ, the One who made and loved him by dying on a cross to demonstrate that love. Praise God for the gospel that changes lives!
His mighty hand is definitely on this ministry, and His powerful Holy Spirit is at work in lives.
